EFP is not a Government Body? Testing the Pacman logic.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has washed its hands of the RM2.1 billion Sime Darby fiasco because it considers the GLC's investments as a private matter.

This about-turn came after the PAC had earlier said that it would be looking into the huge losses suffered by Sime Darby.

"Sime Darby is a subsidiary of PNB (Permodalan Nasional Berhad), and its primary stakeholder is EPF (Employee Provident Fund).

"Both cannot be classified as government bodies as their finances come from individual investors," said PAC chairman Azmi Khalid.

"EPF's funds come from its shareholders while PNB's funds come from private investors.

"Therefore, PAC is not qualified to investigate Sime Darby's colossal losses," he said, adding that the PAC arrived at this decision at its Oct 27 meeting.

The decision comes as a surprise, especially after the PAC had said in June that it would be talking to Sime Darby officials, citing it as a matter of public interest.
Sime Darby suffered losses up to RM2.1 billion, incurred by its energy & utilities division (E&U) this year. It said it would resort to civil suits to recover these losses.

However, it did not mention who it would be suing. Sime Darby is also being investigated over the matter by the MACC and the Securities Commission (SC). more here

National Language Committee? Here's a task for you

National language committee to find best method of using BM
BERNAMA Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 14:46:00

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Language Implementation Committee, to be set up soon, is expected to be able to find the best method of promoting the proper use of Bahasa Malaysia thus ensuring its position as the country's national language.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong said the establishment of the committee was one of the government's commitment to address the problem of the abuse of the Malay language, including the rampant use of mixed language or 'bahasa rojak' by radio announcers, commercials on radio and television as well as billboards.

"The Deputy Prime Minister (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) will chair the meeting on the formation of the National Language Implementation Committee on Nov 30, and with the existence of this mechanism, whatever problems on the use of the language can be concluded and a solution found...we are certainly working very hard to correct what is incorrect," he said.

Wee said this at the Dewan Rakyat sitting when replying to a supplementary question from Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) who had asked when the government would actually implement all legislations formulated to ensure the proper use of the Malay language in the country.

Someone in LCCT and AirAsia is part of an International Drug Smuggling ring?

Surabaya. Customs and excise officials at the Juanda International airport in Surabaya have arrested a Malaysian trying to smuggle in one kilogram of methamphetamine estimated to be worth Rp 1 billion ($112,00), an official said on Monday.

The Malaysian male, identified only as A.M.A., 24, arrived from Kuala Lumpur on board an Air Asia flight close to midnight on Saturday.

“Officers from the customs narcotics team of the Juanda airport were suspicious of the person, based on A.M.A.’s profile. They then conducted a physical check on his body and his baggage,” said Buhari Sirait, head of the airport’s customs office.

The officers found the methamphetamine wrapped in aluminium foil and hidden inside a secret compartment tucked into the lining of the suspect’s backpack, he said.

Under questioning, A.M.A. told customs officers that he was only acting as a courier for someone in Malaysia.

Upon arriving in Surabaya, he was to deliver the package of drugs to a person named Devi.

East Java narcotics police said the man’s arrest by customs officers’ had likely eliminated the chance to apprehend Devi.

Sr. Comr. Jan de Fretes, head of the East Java Police’s narcotics unit, criticized the lack of coordination between the two agencies.

He said the customs office should have immediately notified the police of their suspicions so that other players in the smuggling operation could also be arrested.

“Once arrested at the airport, the case cannot be developed further,” Jan said.

But Buhari denied not coordinating with the police.

“There is no such a thing as institutional ego that made the methamphetamine smuggling end at the airport with the arrest of the courier. We always coordinate with the police in handling cases like these.”

Jan also complained about the lax security checks in Malaysia which allowed people to smuggle narcotics out of the country.

“We once filed a complaint; of course it was the National Police headquarters that filed it.”

In a recent survey conducted by the National Police, weak security checks were found at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

It is at the LCCT — which is often referred to as the Air Asia terminal — that the security checks are lax. The checks appears just to be formalities,” Jan said.

Lax checks and cheap fares have made low-cost carriers such as Air Asia a favorite for drug smugglers, he added.

Words of Wisdom from Lim Kit Siang circa 1968-69

I will continue where I left off at Satu Sekolah post....

There I implored my readers to take a look at the speeches of Lim Kit Siang....I'm not sure if anyone of you bothered to visit the site I've linked....

So allow me to pick a few that would be of interest....in light of the current discussion on May 13..

This is what he said......

On Rahman Talib Education Report and the Position of Single Medium School based on the National Language

Speech by DAP Organising Secretary and Parliamentary Candidate for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, at the third DAP General Elections Public Rally in Malacca at Long Chan Bros. (Pengkalan Rama Pantai) Malacca on Sunday, 13th April 1969 at 9p.m.
In fact, tonight I ACCUSE MR. KOH KIM LENG AS ONE OF THE ARCHITECTS OF THE ALLIANCE POLICY TO SUPPRESS AND DESTROY CHINESE LANGUAGE AND EDUCATION IN MALAYSIA.

In 1960, Mr. Koh Kim Leng co-authored with Abdul Rahman Talib to produce notorious and obnoxious Abdul Rahman Talib Education Report, which is today’s the Alliance blueprint to destroy Chinese Language and education in Malaysia.

Mr. Koh Kim Leng’s Abdul Rahman Talib Education Review Report called for the forced closure of all Chinese secondary and primary schools, and their conversion into Malay schools. As a result of Mr. Koh Kim Leng’s Abdul Rahman Talib Education Report, the Minister of Education has now been invested with the power to implement this process of closure of all Chinese schools and their conversion into Malay schools within 24 hours notice!

I am convinced that after the general elections of May 10, if candidates like Mr. Koh Kim Leng are elected, then all the Chinese primary schools will be closed and converted into Malay schools overnight.

Raya Haji Determination Date :The Divisive Crescent and T+1 Wukuf Dates?

Indonesia is divided again today.

Some of my buddies dah sembahyang raya hari ini in selected mosque in the country.

Gua ikut official Indonesian government determination date.

I saw some FB messages of Selamat Hari Raya from folks in KL...

Gua check Bank Negara Malaysia website.....it's 17th November.

Anyway......why is this......this is not the first time in Indonesia...

We got 2 very popular school of tots......Nadhatul Ulama and Muhammadiah...

Tiap tahun each one tries to be different from another.....so we typically end up having two dates for Hari Raya.....

Refer here
There's also another school of tot......which is the date should be after the date of Wukuf in Arafah.....

Even Malaysia prior to 1992 followed that ....

Pindaan Kaedah Penetapan Hari Raya Aidil Adha Di Malaysia : Majlis Fatwa go here
Lebih sesuai di amalkan di negara ini?

That's it......how convenient Pakcik Pakcik Alims...... kasi la logic sikit....lu ingat gua budak darjah satu ke?

Rosmah: Najib is like a big baby

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is recuperating from chicken pox, is a difficult and stubborn patient, says his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

"He is like a big baby," she smilingly said of the Prime Minister who was discharged from hospital a few days ago.

"Let me tell you, it is much easier to look after a small child than to look after a big baby," she told reporters after launching the Companies Commission of Malaysia-Unicef tool kit on how to set up a childcare centre at the work place yesterday.

She said she also had to keep reminding Najib not to eat groundnuts as it would aggravate his chickenpox.

"Yet when I come home, I find him eating kacang. He is stubborn," said Rosmah.

Najib who contracted chicken pox after attending the Asean summit is currently recovering. Go here

Now this is getting pretty interesting.

First it was Personal Contribution ....now it's UMNO's contribution...

Lets look at the Indonesian Press folks....

First up...

Go here

Personal Contribution? The Case of Najib Razak

First thing I said

Biar serious pakcik

Najib personally contributes Rp1 billion to merapi victims
BERNAMA
Friday, November 12th, 2010 01:17:00
YOGYAKARTA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has made a personal contribution worth Rp1 billion (RM347,000) to help alleviate the suffering of victims of the Merapi volcano disaster.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi handed over the contribution on Najib's behalf to Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, Sultan Yogyakarta, who is also the governor of Yogyakarta province, here today.

The aid among others included infant milk, biscuits, blankets and sarongs and personal hygiene items.

Ahmad Zahid said Najib sympathised with the plight of the victims of the disaster, which has claimed 194 lives since the Merapi volcano started erupting on Oct 26.

"This is an initial aid, if more aid is needed, Malaysia is willing to assist," Zahid told reporters present.

A Reply to Tun Perkasa Post : Peruntukan Perlembagaan dan Isu Bahasa Pengantar Di Sekolah Jenis

First of All Happy Deepavali to all my readers.

Salam my dearest Tun Mahathir.

Initially I wanted to send in a comment to your latest post but after thinking about what I wanted to say, don't think it will fit your comment section and get the necessary attention that it should.

So here goes.

You said

Race Relationship Act Penang mari punye version:The Sinister Plot of Malaysian Malaysia Bullshit

GEORGE TOWN (Oct 31, 2010): The state government hopes to table the Race Relation Bill next year to forge unity among the public and stop racists and extremists from destroying society.

"We cannot allow racists to run riot and make a ruckus in the state," Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said.

He said the state authorities would engage various quarters, including NGOs and the state legal advisor to see if the bill can be introduced at the state assembly when it meets next year.

"It is time for us to see each other not as Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban or Kadazan, but as Malaysians," he said. "We all face the same issues in the country."

Lim, who is also DAP Secretary General, said Bukit Gelugor MP and DAP Chairman Karpal Singh had proposed the idea in parliament in the past, but it was thrown out.

"If we cannot propose it at Federal Level, we will study if it can be implemented at state level," he said at the Deepavali Open House held in Taman Tun Sardon today.

Also present were Karpal, Seri Delima assemblyman RSN Rayer, Batu Uban assemblyman S. Raveentharen and Datok Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo. About 300 people turned up at the open house, organised by the Lengkok Bawah Taman Tun Sardon Community Development and Security Committee. -- theSun Source here

Under which part of the state constitution can you enact such a Law beng? Does this comes under Schedule 9 of our Federal Consti?
