KUALA LUMPUR: Two brothers accused of burning the Metro Tabernacle Church in Desa Melawati here in January were found guilty of the offence by the Sessions Court Friday.

Judge S.M. Komathy Suppiah said the claim by Raja Muhammad Faizal Raja Ibrahim, 24, and Raja Muhammad Idzham Raja Ibrahim, 22, that their injuries were sustained in a barbecue was a fabrication and an afterthought. go here and here

Remember the grant of 500K

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government is giving a grant of RM500,000 to the Metro Tabernacle Church, which was set on fire early Friday morning, to help it to relocate.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the grant was the the Government’s way of showing its sympathy towards what has happened.

“It is a sign of the Government’s sincerity in offering our support,” Najib told reporters after visiting the church in Desa Melawati yesterday at 5pm. On hearing the announcement of the grant, some 200-odd church members, who had gathered outside the burnt ground floor of the three-storey building, cheered and clapped.

Metro Tabernacle lay leader Peter Yeow later told The Star that the church’s new building in Batu Caves was nearly ready. go here

Guess how much our Prime Minister Donated

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak handed over another donation of RM180,000 to a Quran recital centre in Hulu Langat which was destroyed in a fire last month.

Najib, through his political secretary Datuk Jailani Ngah, had donated RM30,000 to Hayatul Uloom Islamic Teaching Centre soon after the fire on July 25, which also claimed the life of a student.

The Prime Minister handed over yesterday’s donation to the centre’s principal, Dr Shahrir Hussin, at his office here. Go here
