G'bye JD

The man who created Holden is gone...........

Was he a one hit wonder?

Is there a "secret" unpublished collection?......tucked away somewhere.......very little is known about his life....

Who knows......

Well........I got to know Holden when I was 13......stumbled upon it while browsing through this massive collection of books at my buddy's place......his dad's.......actually

I re-read it again while i was in my A-Levels........I seldom do that......

But Catcher was different..........Cather was a journey that one takes with Holden.....Catcher allows you to become an observer to the things around you......and Catcher teaches you to be wee bit nasty in a comical way with your observation......

Marina dear,do try harder next time you wanna show how "Con"fident you are

Tun..... what's going on with your little girl sir?

You must send her to my elementary googling class for wannabe bloggers who want to enter into National Level debate......(or maybe Global la in this case....)

It took me just a couple of minutes to go thru her "oh gua terjumpa something very important one to share with my gullible readers" who are made up of melayus bangang and apek tak pernah baca buku crowd.....and to point out possible inconsistency in the references which she made.....

First fact of the so called letter by the prophet (s.a.w)....is that it is probably a fake.....

I asked the same thing as per the link above what happen to Jizyah? Which is tax imposed on those who do not want to submit to Islam.......

How could the Prophet (S.A.W) treat the aloof Christians of Najran differently than the Mt.Sinai

This particular meeting with the Najrans is also a very key benchmark to "inter-faith" discussions..

in this meeting the key verses of Ali-Imran was revealed...in which the Najrans who believed in the 3 in 1 dogma was challenged with the Quranic Christology that Allah does not have a Son and that you have gone off tangent from the straight path......ever since that day the Christians globally is challenged from a theological perspective....

For details about the Najran meeting go here and here

Let us look at the tone of the 2 letters by the Prophet....

In the name the Lord of Ibrahim, Ishaq and Ya'qub

This is a letter from Muhammad, the Prophet and Messenger of Allah to the Bishop of Najran: I Praise and glorify the Lord of Ibrahim, Ishaq and Ya'qub, and invite you all to worship Allah instead of worshipping His creatures, so that you may come out of the guardianship of the creatures of Allah and take place under the guardianship of Allah Himself. And in case you do not accept my invitation you must (at least) pay Jizyah (tribute) to the Islamic Government (in lieu of which it will undertake the protection of your lives and property), failing which you are hereby warned of dangerous consequences.
The letter to Najran

"This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them. Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them.

No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims' houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God's covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate.

No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray.

Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world)."

the fakey sounding letter....of Mt Sinai

if you think this monkey mau kencing sama lu pergi check sendiri kat sini

If you all want to know how a real letter looks like and the kind of message is being sent by the Prophet go here and check out the pictures and especially the seal at the end of the letters

this is where it get a little bit tricky.....

No one is really sure when the jizyah versus was revealed was it after the Mecca conquest or before?

Another thing any sane minded person should ask is that Sinai was in Eqypt....did Islam ever went there in 628 AD? Was the Sinai Monastery in any threat at all?

And if you are a Muslim who believes in the Hadith of the Prophet....perhaps you should re-read this one......

Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims) as a just ruler and will break the Cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizya (a tax taken from the non-Muslims, who are in the protection, of the Muslim government). Then there will be abundance of money and no-body will accept charitable gifts.

Volume 3, Book 34, Number 425:
Narrated Abu Huraira

How now Marina still confident?

Of course la you would say that your whole post was about the usage of Allah during Prophet's time by the Christians "Arabs"......

That one is also questionable as there was no Bible ever produced during that time in Arabic...the earliest Christian Literature in Arabic the Mt Sinai Codex 151 came much later......(this will be explained in my future post on this particular subject kalu gua tak malas la)

next time dear ...when you want to use Prophet's words you must be pretty sure about the authenticity of your reference materials.....

but if your audience is the malas baca malas pikir kinda crowd....then what can i say sista.....

Oh one more thing......ni ape cita kepala babi kat Masjid ......lu orang biar serious apa sudah jadi kat KL ni......

The Dumb Doctor Doom: Pakiam ane even the Arabs are thinking twice now

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
hehehehe.........

I'm quite excited with this post.....semangat nak mampus tapi tak cukup info lagi....so gua bagi sikit kat lu orang

tadi ada satu comment masuk by rsrsqw

Hi.
Could you please make it known that the Arab Christians no longer use the term "Allah" to describe god in their Bible. Instead they use the generic arabic word "Rabb".
TQ

Aik thats new to me......so gua pun macam biasa terus key in on my manteb bangets computer plus some mandrem here and there.......

Ting ting ting.........as always we must go to the beginning....

Arabic Bible translations into Arabic are known from at least 1,000 years ago, firstly of the Jewish Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), then later also of the Christian New Testament.

Medieval Jewish
In the 10th century AD Saadia Gaon wrote a Tafsir, an Arabic translation of the Tanakh with a lengthy commentary. These were written in Hebrew characters (Judeo-Arabic). Much of the commentary is lost, but the translation has survived intact, and even served as part of the liturgy of Yemenite Jews, who read the Torah in the synagogue with each Hebrew verse translated twice: First to the Aramaic targum, and second to Saadia's Tafsir.

Christian

In 1671 the Catholic Church published the whole Bible at Rome. The translation was done under the direction of Sergius Risi, the Catholic Archbishop of Damascus. Francis Britius aided the translation.

The most popular translation is the Van Dyck Version, funded by the Syrian Mission and the American Bible Society. The project was the brainchild of Eli Smith, and started around 1847, centered in Beirut. After Eli Smith's death it was completed under the direction of Cornelius Van Allen Van Dyck. Others involved included Nasif al Yaziji, Boutros al Bustani, and Yusuf al-Asir. The New Testament was completed on March 9, 1860, followed by the Tanach on March 10, 1865. About 10 million copies of this version have been distributed since 1865. It has been accepted by the Coptic Church and the Protestant churches. This translation was based mostly on the same Textus Receptus as the King James Version of the Bible, and follows a more literal style of translation. Most printings of the Van Dyck version use the same basic printing plates which have been employed for years (possibly the same plates that were made when the translation was first adopted; maybe somebody can verify that fact). These plates employ the "stacking" version of writing Arabic, in which, for example, letters that precede other specified letters, such as "Jeem," are written vertical to rather than horizontal to that letter. This style of Arabic can be hard to read at times, especially for non-native students of Arabic. More recently, newer printings of the Van Dyck have been made which employ a more common, straightforward Arabic font.

Let me now introduce Dr Doom......

Dr. Van Dyck was born August 13,1818, in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York. Mainly self educated by reason of his father’s financial misfortunes, he became a naturalist during adolescence and prepared an herbarium of plants of his native area. Little is known about his early motivation or preparation for medical school but it is clear that he became interested in the Presbyterian mission movement and immediately after graduation from Jefferson he sought and received an appointment as a lay medical missionary to Syria through the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. This board was made up of representatives from the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, the Dutch Reformed, and the Associated Reformed Churches. The emphasis in Syria was on the Protestant background of the member churches rather than on specifically denominational ones, and this principle carried through in the organization of mission facilities.

In 1845, Van Dyck was married to Julia Thomson, daughter of the Rev. Dr. William M. Thomson. He worked in Sidon for a time, then in Abieh, Lebanon, where he founded the Abieh High School and prepared works on geography, mathematics, navigation, and natural philosophy. While keeping up his medical duties, Van Dyck joined with Dr. Eli Smith in
a translation of the Bible into Arabic. The project began in 1847, Smith died in 1857, and Van Dyck completed the work by 1865 when he spent 2 years in New York supervising the preparation of electrotype plates for the Bible printing. During those 2 years he also taught Hebrew at the Union Theological Seminary. The translation was described as a masterpiece.

Go here for details

We all know that the first Allah in Bahasa Bible is Liedekker 1731 and Not Albert Cornelius Ruyl as claimed by Herald.......

We must now find out about this Arabic lost in translation version........

If
the Arab version start using Allah in the translation of its Arabic Bible only after Van Dyck then there is a serious logic error there la brader........

No different than you saying that the Melayus in the Nusantara actually set the benchmark on the name of the Diety for the Arabic Christians based on a melayunized loan word in Arabic.....

how meh...niat-inseng-mateg-aji-semarnyi-lem!

I'm still searching folks and I hope that you my readers join me on this fardu kifayah search..go my googling gang! go and search...i got to play futsal....

But to me its not really important......you wanna know why.......

We must ask ourselves since there is so many versions kan Bible..ni...we must ask a simple question Orang Arab yang Confident sekarang ni tu beriman dengan Bible mana........

And to answer that

June 3, 1865, Dr. Van Dyck proceeded to New York, in accordance with arrangements made with the American Bible Society, and superintended the making of a set of electrotype plates of the entire Arabic Bible in large type 8 volumes, and of the vowelled New Testament. Two years later he returned to Beirut with Mr. Samuel Hallock, an electrotyper, and superintended electrotyping the vowelled Old Testament 8vo, and editions of the entire Bible and of the New Testament. The American Bible Society furnished the British and Foreign Bible Society with a duplicate set of plates of the Bible and New Testament made in New York and also of the vowelled Old Testament made in Beirut. Thus was the Arabic Bible completed.

In a short time ten editions, containing forty thousand copies, had been printed. The accuracy of its renderings, the idiomatic excellence of the style, and even the beauty of the type, which Dr. Smith had prepared especially for it, and which surpassed all that had gone before as much as the translation excelled all previous effort, made it popular among all classes, so that even the Moslem was forced to commend the Bible of the Christian.
No literary work of the century exceeds it in importance and it is acknowledged to be one of the best translations of the bible ever made.

the Arabic Bible

I always tot the "holy" Arabic Bible yang Pakiam pegang ni dah beratus tahun la sebelum the Malay Bible.........

And if you wanna know what is the current position on Allah in Arabic Bible check this out.....

We need to address a topic that is sure to come up when using ArabBible. The textual foundation for ArabBible is the venerable Van Dyck translation, completed in Lebanon in March of 1860. You are probably aware that the term used for “God” in the Van Dyck version is “Allah”. However, ArabBible does not use this word at all. Instead, the word “al-ilaah” has been employed (note: no other changes have been made to the Van Dyck text). Why the change? To answer this question we should look at several issues..

Gua dah boring ni.....so "Melayu" liberal pun jadi la hari ni.....sorry anwar no butts for u today but if you prefer Malay boys here's one for you

"Sorry. One question. It looks from that article that the Malays here are under the mistaken understanding that Allah only refers to the Muslim God. If so, isn't it the right time NOW to address that misunderstanding? Must the Christians or other faiths who refer to God as Allah be penalised because the Malays here have misunderstood the word Allah?

As far as I know, and I am a Muslim, God has 99 names. That's what the Prophet says. Non of the 99 however is Allah. How?

Melayu Sesat lepak sama lost ahbengs

First of all you definitely cant count.. that's not one question....

Ohh oh....the Malays is it that have misunderstood the word Allah?

IC.....so you are saying that the lost in translation (Dewa Rex tks bro!) religion propagated by the Mat Salehs yang tak paham bahasa Arab or Melayu is correct...

Interesting.......mengelabah gua ni sekarang........

Anyway folks some quick facts for today

Did you know that the sneaky Malayan Christian Council actually submitted a memorandum to ensure that they can penetrate the Malay heartlands to Lord Reid during the setting up of our Constitution knowing full well about the Pangkor Treaty

"By 1956 negotiations were underway for independence. A Commonwealth Commission with Lord Reid as Chairman was set up to draw up a constitution for independent Malaya. The key issues for Christians were religious freedom and the nature of the new state, whether Islamic or secular. A delegation from the Malaya Christian Council met the Reid Commission and presented a memorandum which called for religious freedom to be enshrined in the new constitution. Specifically the memorandum urged that all persons be equally entitled to freedom of conscience and have the right freely to choose, profess, practise and propagate any religion. The Malaya Christian Council defined religious freedom to include the right of Muslims to convert to Christianity. This was in spite of the fact that there had been virtually no Christian efforts thus far to evangelise amongst the Malays (yeah rite! satD cilok sikit) . As it turned out the Reid Commission eventually produced a draft constitution in March 1957 which was largely based on the memorandum submitted by the Alliance Party, a political party formed out of an “alliance” forged between a Malay party, a Chinese party and an Indian party in 1951. With minor changes this became the Malayan Constitution and later the Malaysian Constitution of today. (Ryan, 1971, p.248)"

Maria Kana
MISSIONARY RESPONSES TO THE POLICY OF ISLAMISATION IN MALAYSIA

The major topic which did involve the MCC as a body were the provisions in the new constitution for freedom of religion. Representations were made to the Reid Commission charged with drawing up the constitution, and there is no doubt that in 1957 the MCC got significantly less than the "freedom to profess, practice, propagate and change" they had hoped for.

Poni Alak Petara:Unravelling the Linguistic Origin of Borneo's Allah

Apemacam.....did i get your attention with my last six post? ( I suggest you read them in sequence starting from Patronymic (by Apocryphalist) + a short message from me, Which Muslim Target Group, Liejdecker Original Sin, The Problem of Meaning and the pelempang post to lost ahbeng )

Are you ready for more.....or sudah tak boleh masuk kepala otak lu

I've been watching the so called "debate" on this Allah issue for a while....my take if i can quote the well hung Apocrypalist

"He quotes hither and tither but what I think you really are, is just someone with a Masters degree in Googling. Camni laaa. Kalau kail sejengkal wikipedia, tak usah diduga laaa kolam ikan puyu Jebat"

Father Apocryphalist Bizzaro in a response to wiki fisherman

I got a quick confession to make.....the shit I wrote the last few post I did not know before

Like Jibrail said to the illiterate prophet to be.......read......

I say to you today.....google if you don't know....but you must know how to ask the questions correctly and build the logic for the next question.....

One thing that I believe is that the Quran should be the final adjudicator when men cant agree...but before we get into quoting the Quran or the human edited Bibles let us look at the facts first.....

Is this a Theological debate or a Linguistic Debate?

What is the issue?

You go figure yourself on what you think is the issue.....

So are you ready? hang on to your mouse folks as this monkey takes you further into the unknown territory.......

anyway to cut long story short.......satu mamat masuk blog gua kasi ini komen....
"nampaknya pakcik keliru dgn isu Allah di malaya. research pakcik tu memg betoi dr segi sejarah takde yg salah. tapi pakcik paham ke isu herald dan Allah ni? pakcik penah pi sabah sarawak ke? pakcik tahu tak section melayu dlm herald tu utk bacaan bumiputra kristian sabah sarawak. takde kena mengena dgn melayu malaya. section melayu tu bukan utk org malaya."
paloibinmulau

It got me thinking......there is another angle which i need to cover...worry not this will not be a berjela2 post like before....i'm gonna be quick and straight to the point on this one.....

The Borneo issue.......

let us try to figure this one out shall we.....

Where do we begin.........

I say lets go waaaaaayyyyyyyyy back to the Kingdom of Poni

huh? Chill folks......

In the Chinese historic annals, Brunei was mentioned as far back as 1,500 years ago in the Liang Dynasty (502 to 566 CE).

Then the Brunei predecessor state of Poli sent tributes to the Chinese bearing the produce of the country.

Subsequent visits by other Chinese travellers to Brunei included that during the Sui Dynasty (581-618 CE), in the Tang Dynasty (618-906 CE) and Sung Dynasty (960-1279 CE).
During those years, the name Poni had also been spelled as Bu-ni, Fo-ni, Po-ni and Po-lo.

It was recorded that the King of Po-lo had sent a mission to China in 669 CE.

The differences of the names are said to be caused by the changes of the Chinese dynasties, each preferring its own way of spelling.

Rozan Yunus

Surprised? I was...

So how does this fit now.....

What religion did the people of Poni practised......

Lets find out...we all know Islam came much later....

Read more here

So it was Buddism......interesting ting ting.....

If you are wondering how little this Kingdom is.....assuming you've read the document....jangan malas wahai ahbeng ahbeng sekalian....

Poni also ruled what we now call Sabah and Serawak........

ape jadi to that Kingdom?
Well like most of the ancient Buddhism kingdoms.......Islam took over

kapan ya pak? as how we in Jakarta would inquire.....

Well it came much earlier but did not took over the Kingdom.....

Kingdoms are taken over when the King normally embraces Islam....so when was this?

This was when Awang Alak Betatar embraced Islam in 1368 AD after his visit to the Johor Sultanate
Quick check again get your calculators out....

We know from my previous post that the earliest so called Christian documents Kitab As-Sawat was 1514

So 1514 tolak 1368 tu berapa tahun.....ketikketik ketik ketik...

146 years

Let me now make a simple hypothesis

proposition 1:

In Buddhism got Allah or not?

proposition 2:

What happens to the Sultan's subject normally after the Sultan converts to Islam?

Lets start with proposition 1:

I shall give 10K Uranus Dollars for anyone who can prove that Allah exist and worshiped in Buddhism....if no one answer lets all assume that the answer is a NO?

Apemacam ahbeng ahbeng sekalian got Allah meh? Come back to me please RSVP before cow comes home ok?

Proposition 2:
Let us now learn about the spread of Islam in this "tiny" modern state of Brunei......

I noticed that most lost abengs do not have the ability to comprehend documents more than 2 pages......so in the interest of the lost abengs i shall provide this link for your perusal

don't be afraid to click the link ma....got pictures, got cartoon and simpel english ma

to the rest of my readers i hope you don't mind that we lower the quality of this debate in term of reference materials

so now how beng?

How did the word Allah entered the vocabulary of the people of Sabah and Serawak as we know it now?

before we go into the linguistic angle further....

Let me make another confession

tu sekarang.....imagine 300 or 400 years ago......apeke lancau pun kita satu malaysia ni sekarang tak paham kut....

Let us now find out about Tuhan , God or what ever it is that these people sembah la
First of all i think most of us here are aware that most of the forefathers of our Sabah & Serawak folks were practising animism........which makes this kinda the Blue Ocean for religious conversion by both side of the divide (Islam vs Christianity....I shall try to address this in my next post kalu gua tak malas la)

For some interesting observations about them read this

The Pagan Tribes of Borneo:
A Description of Their Physical Moral and Intellectual Condition With Some Discussion of their Ethnic Relations by Charles Hose and William McDougall
Published July 1912

and this

The Natives of Serawak and Brittish North Borneo 1896
Many ways to read it so choose from here

Again folks in the interest of ahbengs malas baca i've extracted some points which i think is important for all of us here

first there is soooooooooo many Gods la all this people from Sabah Serawak used to sembah....but what is important in our debate is how the word Allah came into their vocabulary and if they actually understood what it means or not.......

Di sebabkan banyak sangat Tuhan kat Sabah Serawak gua kasi tunjuk same lu one of them.....Petara...the Sea Dayak God

So this cawat going people were fully aware that Allah Taala is what the Malays call their God?No? (abeng gagap style again if you dont mind)

and the best part folk this is how they use after they pinjam Allah S.W.T

THEY WILL NOW SHOVE THE NAME OF ALLAH TAALA TO FILL UP THE NICHE OF A PANTHEOR, OR TO COMPLETE A LINE OR MAKE UP A RHYME

say what? Banyak cantik lu main selit aje nama Tuhan gua.....

Ok lets say la that the Missions who are very macho explorers dared to go deep into the jungles and mingle with babis and all la.....promoted this ciplak "Allah Taala" as per their doctrine....what do we do with the mess they have created?

if you also notice folks are saying look at Indonesia ....they got no problem with use of Allah...

let me tell you something as someone who have lived here for a number of years (sorry can say exact nanti kena pin-point dengan Vatican Assassins)

Lu pergi tanya semua orang Indonesia Muslim of course....

they'll say oh.....iya pak "Tuhan A-lah" not like our "Allw-Lah"......

The sound of the words is the very the different la ahbengs......

You wanna know why?

Who were their preachers?

Locals or Mat Salleh.....

Ever heard a Mat Salleh non muslim say the word Allah?

Get it?

Which is why i dont understand now why in the world the stupid government sent bingai of the year to negotiate with the East malaysian

if it was me at the negotiating table....

I would have ask for them to drop the silent L

So how Pakiam ane....deal no deal?

oh oh one more thing before i forget......remember the clause "other than Religion and Custom" in Pangkor treaty......the Brits had that with Brunei as well.....go google your self while doing so try to find out as well how British break Brunei apart into what you know now as Sabah and Serawak.....

tu la dia orang buat proposal nak buat Satu Sekolah system , improve the quality of history lessons tak nak......nak duduk jugak kat sekolah vernacular.
Minds are like parachutes; they work best when open. -Lord Thomas Dewer
