Last Moments Above Ground

I'm at odds on whether i should write this or not.....am I being disrespectful in anyway....I sincerely hope not....

Muslims should be buried quickly with very little "upacara" and preferably in the most simple perhaps an "unmarked" grave since we are all the same...aren't we?

What ever "adats" or children not back yet excuses should not be considered.....

Anyway my Al-Fatihah to the family....

Money Politics Chinaman Style...........

PART 1: Flow and Distribution Analysis

Remember 1000 Ringgit notes.......BNM stopped them after they fixed the ringgit in September 1998

Do you know how big 1 Million ringgit is in 1000's.........it can be in your front pocket.......and you can sit comfortably...people were literally carrying them in bags over to Singapore before this measure was introduced....we were given till July 99 to change them...but by then they have exited ringgit..........they went for dollars

Singapore offered the highest return on Ringgit to finance speculative activities against our beloved currency in the 3rd Largest Foreign Exchange Market in the World......a lot of money was there....20 somethings with trading limits in Billions..and paid in relation to how much money they make...they were driving Ferraris in Singapore...imagine how much money you need to have to own one......moral hazards sets in when it was so easy to leverage against a Central Bank with less than 20 Billion USD reserves, the combined daily positions of speculators dwarfs the amount available by the Central Banks for daily smoothing or intervention activities.....

Now back to physicals........How well did we monitor private planes then?
Imagine shitloads folks......pocketsize 1 Millions..

Most left to Singapore.....and whose money are these I ask you ......the Malays,
The Indians or The Chinese?

Some Malay money left as well.....but not as much i think....they left further towards Afrika and Europe......slush funds.....

This money started coming back...... after Badawi took over .......they were hedging their bets after the Anwar episode.....they were not sure on who to finance....n mahathir was leaving.....

The sheer size of the money freaked Badawi i think.....kalau gua pun tergoda no kidding...i don't know what he did but after that..... everybody turned a blind eye to corruption as the LEADER of The NATION is perceived as being a corrupt person...you must lead by example no BUTs..........

People think it's Singapore money coming in, mislead n start shouting here and there...yes Singapore domestic money did come but together with our local Chinese money parked in Singapore and other international investors.....

Anyway folks lets get back to where the money is coming from.......

Singapore currently sits on more than 1 Trillion USD possible funds, this is from my last conversation with a Senior International banker..no data so far on this as the positions could be in other markets globally....and may be liquidated within hours, but most have trading lines to allow them to leverage on their positions, which is normally pledged as collateral

Where is the money now?....

Which entity would be tasked to hold it inside our system?

If it is................................

i heard once from the cook of my favorite chinese seafood.....his mate a couple of stalls away got busted with 3 Million cash.......and that was in 2001.....Same thing another mate told me...."dato dato tu layan lebih aje duit habuk pun tarak....apek tua pakai singlet dengan buku 555 pun duit berjuta"..........his wife works in wealth management....

High liquidity in cash and control over distribution channels allows them to have a firm grip in controlling parts of the economic system.....

Are these family money......generation after generations....preserved and growing

An indicator should be the level of Cash Liquidity of Chinese Politically Connected Companies, watch out for asset acquisitions when they enter.....heard someone lost 73Million Deposit.....lots of money you have...... to lose that amount?

I actually find the Chinese a very dedicated lot......more organized.....thats how they first came here.....perhaps they were working together before and was asked to go for a relocation into a foreign territory.......expatriates.....a lot were skilled workers with more complex tools than the locals.......

Why didn't the British adopt a training program concept.....bring in experts to train the malays in the skills of the foreign workers from china and India.....and increase the local malay skill pool further....after a few years send them back.......

Was it a skill that we could not learn?........................... I don't think so

The money now...... I think is not with the Political Parties.........the families are holding back..they are saying get your act together again if you want our funding......

MCA kelam kabut big time.........

DAP takde duit sangat.....sampai nak cari duit pun kena saman orang (I like the flying economy thing..keep it up...wish more would follow).......

And one more thing..........they can do "it" openly during Chinese New Year....not bad eh...

Bursa Down............Again!!!

BURSA DOWN
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Trading on Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd is suspended for the afternoon session following a technical problem with its trading system.

In a statement, the exchange operator said the derivatives market will, however, continue to trade as normal but there will not be any underlying KLCI feed for the FKLI (futures) and OKLI (options) trading.

All market participants have been duly notified and will be updated periodically of the progress.

Bursa Malaysia is investigating the problem and will notify the market of any updates.

-- BERNAMA

No need to say much about this one....how many times already this year...

Exchanges mission critical trading system is supposed to operate in a "Hot Back Up" i.e. building real time redundancies when your main system is down, the other one will automatically take over to ensure continuous trading activity, and if that goes down, your remote backup will take over, within a few hours.

Which heads will roll this time around? Last time i "heard" that they did not follow proper procedure to bring the system up.....

Exchanges which operate in a monopoly situation typically have the "monopolistic" mentality that "its OK ,they still have to use us"......wake up Bursa!!!, the financial world is changing and you must have proper system to support the development of our Capital market and to instill market confidence that Malaysian Capital Market Infrastructure meets minimum international standards.

YUSLI YUSOFF....you know what to do......Give Malaysia our Christmas Present............RESIGN Now

The Birth of Jesus.......As I know it

Ali Imran 35-51, Al Quran

Behold! a woman of 'Imran said: "O my Lord! I do dedicate unto Thee what is in my womb for Thy special service: So accept this of me: For Thou hearest and knowest all things. When she was delivered, she said: "O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!"- and Allah knew best what she brought forth- "And no wise is the male Like the female. I have named her Mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Thy protection from the Evil One, the Rejected. Right graciously did her Lord accept her: He made her grow in purity and beauty: To the care of Zakariya was she assigned. Every time that he entered (Her) chamber to see her, He found her supplied with sustenance. He said: "O Mary! Whence (comes) this to you?" She said: "From Allah. for Allah Provides sustenance to whom He pleases without measure." There did Zakariya pray to his Lord, saying: "O my Lord! Grant unto me from Thee a progeny that is pure: for Thou art He that heareth prayer!

While he was standing in prayer in the chamber, the angels called unto him: "(Allah) doth give thee glad tidings of Yahya, witnessing the truth of a Word from Allah, and (be besides) noble, chaste, and a prophet,- of the (goodly) company of the righteous. He said: "O my lord! How shall I have a son seeing I am very old and my wife is barren?" "Thus" was the answer "doth Allah accomplish what He willeth." He said: "O my Lord! Give me a Sign!" "Thy Sign," was the answer, "Shall be that thou shalt speak to no man for three days but with signals. Then celebrate the praises of thy Lord again and again, and glorify Him in the evening and in the morning."

Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee- chosen thee above the women of all nations. "O Mary! worship Thy Lord devoutly: Prostrate thyself, and bow down (in prayer) with those who bow down." This is part of the tidings of the things unseen, which We reveal unto thee (O Messenger.) by inspiration: Thou wast not with them when they cast lots with arrows, as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary: Nor wast thou with them when they disputed (the point).

Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah. He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous." She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is!

"And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel, "And (appoint him) an apostle to the Children of Israel, (with this message): "'I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah.s leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah.s leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe; "'(I have come to you), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah, and obey me. "'It is Allah Who is my Lord and your Lord; then worship Him. This is a Way that is straight.'"

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!! n HAPPY HOLIDAYS...wohooo!!!!.....

Another Bangang Idea......from a "Finance" Minister

Somehow it seems like they are all going to break their own individual records on this one...

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Husni has called for the use of multiple currencies in Bursa Malaysia to draw more foreign companies

Woi....Lu Bingai Ke.....mane pakcik dapat ini idea...sambil berak ke?...it's shitty you idiot

Fact

1.Exchange trading of securities requires a clearing function or a central counter-party who will step in to reduce risk of transaction among various trading members.

2. Central Counterparties are exposed to the potential risk of default in the delivery of the security in a sales transaction or the payment of cash in the purchase transaction

Your bright idea will bring in more risk to the central counterparty who now needs to clear transaction in multiple currencies....who will bear the risk i ask you.....how will investors agree on what rates to use to settle the transaction at T + whatever la (Assuming final position will only be known at the end of trading day), they then need to contact their bankers respectively to book for the rates to settle the FX transaction of the Securities Purchase or Sales transaction

Will there be an arbitrage (Can i buy in USD and sell in Ringgit and Make a profit from the movement in currencies instead of the share price movement) between the domestic prices and "other currencies" prices in any particular moment during the trading hours on a single exchange which you claim the whole world will converge because of your idea?....Great idea you have sir.....its so great that Mr Alfred Nobel will wake up from his grave to hand you the award himself......

Do you even remember our problem during 1997-98 when domestic securities was priced and traded in two different location and currencies? Remember CLOB..... you SOB!!

What if our domestic investors now lose complete confidence in our Ringgit and only want to trade in Euros.....how will that affect our Reserves position and Balance of Payments?

What happened to all the Tingkat Advisors? Tak kan la basic shit like this also cannot advise your ministers.......SC and BNM please shut this idiot up.....you all must have a single voice especially in Market Development Activities

Malas siut ..peace people got to get back to work now.....

Social Justice in the Land of Tuans.......

Hey you all "Tuan" maids........

How do you treat them?.....

What kinda food do you provide them?......

Do you allow them to practice their religion in your home, especially the ones who are of a different belief........

Do you respect them as a human? or do you treat them as lesser beings........

The kinda shit i hear on Indonesian TV stations about abuse and fraud cases by Malaysian employers is sickening.....most do not qualify as news in Malaysia....but here they do......

Memalukan negara !!! Tak boleh ke lu orang treat people nicely and pay their salary for the hard work that they have done for you......

Are Indonesian pribumis your "proxy" Malay punching bag?.....Why do you have some much hate towards the Malay race in Malaysia?..........Same goes for the Malays...why do you all hate the other races in Malaysia? Bet if suddenly there is an influx of "foreign workers" of Chinese origin or Indian origin working for the Malays, their fate would be the same as the Indonesians..

About the salary thing....how can you not pay after they have done their work properly for you..
especially those in the Construction sector......that's hard work you prick!!!!!!! try doing that for 2 days and see if you can take it......

Enough of this shit folks start treating them like humans, instill respect not FEAR.....you will definitely have a better life when people respect rather than fear you.......you can begin to build some trust as well........

They did not choose you, you choose them to work for you, some of you don't even choose them..they got picked by a random faceless agents out here...

....they come to our country looking for financial freedom from the life that they have here.........so imagine how they feel after you don't pay them.......how would you feel your boss kencing n don't pay your salary at the end of month

Not nice people....you should treat them better......

How is the foreign worker compensation scheme working anyway???? Any claims data you would like to share with all of us............

Just in case our maid is sick.....send them for medical treatment folks don't buy panadol only.....

We must also create emergency maid service something like AAM kinda thing (I dont know whether we have this or not in KL...sorry...malas n..too sleepy to search for it)...we can call a number in advance by half-a-day to book for a maid that come clean professionally for a few hours, or baby sitters etc....we should also have men cleaners service, it reduces the risk of khalwat.......so once they recover they come back to work.....simple plus it helps reduces infectious diseases.......health checks are important especially if they handle food and babies........

by the way do you allow them to go out on their own with friends, like normal people or do you keep them working on rest day.....what time do they get up for work and what time do they end?

How many hours do you put up a day for work??....how much is your salary and how much do you pay them?.......or is this how we treat manual labors......

i think difficult times are coming and people need to scale down....just get a job what ever i takes as long as it brings in a halal pay.......jangan malu.........this can help with our employment numbers.......what if going forward the manual labors in Malaysia are our people....would you treat them differently?

Eh... whats this i hear about Sime and AirAsia building another low cost airport in Labu for about 1.6 Billion...wah you couldn't get IJN now going after another crap is it? i don't know.......... what do u think ....do we need another low cost airport...or should we bring everything back to KLIA and charge differently for low cost airline to operate....its more efficient and better connected.......18 Million customers is a lot of potential retail opportunity.........dah la tu.......pikir nak carik duit aje.....if you want to develop try as much using existing infrastructure..fix them and make them operate better....put a brake on unnecessary construction expenditure...this can help support should real estate prices falls further as the potential evolving crisis deepens..........

2 Steps to A Flat Stomach

Do you have a tummy?.....sounds cute actually the word itself....

I have one.....it somehow appeared without me noticing it.....maybe i did .....but i was happy....

I think people with tummies are happy people....they just let go and don't care.....

i freaked out one day......... fiddling with my wife's camera phone....i was trying to figure it out , pointed the thing towards my feet.....and it wasn't there anymore......i couldn't see my feet...

And then i became aware of it......

and entrepreneurs begin to notice it as well......how difficult is it anyway to identify a customer?

They could see us among the crowds at malls say couple of meters away....precisely identifying us...............

So many gadgets were introduced....ever seen the one that looks like a belt.....some shakes, there was this one thing i tried...not mine...it gave small electric shocks to your tummy so that it contracts...sit ups on a sofa......watching something on TV....sakit suit gua terkejut gile...

Anyway..they follow us online as well.......reminding us of the fact...."5 Steps to A Flat Stomach" some 7 steps....macam macam lah....i just hate online advertising and spams....machines are getting faster....at they speed they are sending....if you notice....all email accounts have spam folders......its just algorithms spewing potential characters in your email id......start with the first digit.....alphanumeric combination...in a couple of seconds would probably got a few accounts for the machines to send them out....

Ah..this one i think you must heard.......people who fell for the "you pay me some money for you to get more money from some important person internationally who needs to find a proxy account".......

Too many corporations are watching us....especially those that have our confidential informations....careful with credit cards, they understand your spending patterns, they can identify your potential locations in real time during credit validation checks........

We are just targets......for what is in our wallet....

For those who have tried other methods for your tummy besides actual exercise....don't...
exercise folks ..its good for you....how many of you do not do any form of exercise say over a sustaine
d period of 3 months......you just work, eat, have fun with kids n wife/husbands, sleep, etc.....absolutely no exercise...tak berpeluh langsung inside air conditioned environments....its not good for you, i'm hearing of many late 20's early 30's people getting heart attacks scary siut................

Go out people......just go out for a picnic......with your family and friends.....be nice to everybody around you.....a small step towards improving our inter-community relationships.....

I call for Corporates in Malaysia to rise to the occasion in undertaking their corporate social responsibilities by organizing more family related activities for their employees in support of Government efforts in improving race relations issues ...you have made so much money out of us...your customers......we need your help...governments have limited resources to handle this....what ever they do it will be viewed as "political"......

BULLSHIT folks enough with all the crappy politics in Malaysia........dah la tu......kalau gua boleh pelempang and tak kena tangkap...................... belambak dah kena sepak..our politicians...

I think we deserve that..datang office fill up a form then bagi dia sebijik pelempang...and say thank you..

Dah merapu dah ni......

Ah...now i remembered what i wanted to share with you all............ had always wanted this after hearing it from Bro H......

Legalising Money Politics

Disclaimer: I'm not in any way associated with UMNO so do not think of me as a "pro" UMNO individual(I'm not even a registered voter and have not collected my MYKARD since 2006)..i only care for the plight of the Malays and the fate of our nation.....
Don't know whether this can be done or not........
What if politicians in UMNO are paid proper salary say 150,000 ringgit a year, a car, a driver, housing, insurance and medical benefits for the family members.
Let them focus on serving the people instead of doing business...apply the same principle in cawangan, bahagian etc on a smaller scale.....
How to get the money you may ask.........do proper business by UMNO(your existing proxy companies should be declared to the internal audit, and begin consolidating the wealth in "trust" with annual reporting to MT and an official annual group report to members).......... going forward create proper contribution mechanism to the party and design an investment fund properly where members can contribute and earn the returns together.....
Focus on the gray area in between Charity and Community/Development Banking(learn from Grameen) supported by the current network of branches, assist the Government with the economy...and especially assist the Malays, become an agent for NEP “officially” with annual public reports to the Government, other NGO’s representing the Malays can apply to the funds by submitting their plan for review by the Government......apply Islamic Finance ONLY jangan buat duit haram....

You should also operate like a Venture or Private Equity Outfit...provide seed funding....help entrepreneurs in their strategies, at all levels........deal with the bankers for them to go bigger....some of you may sit as Directors in the Companies...not your typical crappy Director of a Sdn Bhd...but really helping and assisting the companies and instill corporate governance and social responsibility
For the old ones have a pension plan if you can, take care of your old ones properly, have respect and be with them till the end...how could you all treat Tun like that......i may not agree with him at times but not to him please...he did a lot for us.....you all must change.......no question about it already........be human again..you know you are in the wrong.........
NEP should be practiced with a merit driven system among the Malays, then only it works, if competition is poor nothing will be achieved. Instead, mediocrity and dependency breeds....
We must build solid well managed Malay companies and secure the long term wealth of our race, we cannot depend on the Government forever....NEP must go one day.....and when that happens we must be ready to compete.......even now as we speak, the ASEAN Economic Community is starting, resources from other ASEAN countries are becoming more free to move around.....how can we protect our future employment?....
Education strategies for our children must be well designed to prepare them in 20 years time.....and this is for all Malaysians not just the Malays....we must be together to face the incoming competition......
Our social structure is changing facilitated by technological and communication technology....internet, blogs, SMS, Tel, Facebook, Chat Rooms, emails etc etc etc.....before the fastest was a telegram....and most people were afraid of it.......
All of these....allow us to draw our collective thoughts together....the problem with that is people disagree too much.....even though they are supporting the same thing...find common grounds quick people.....
tolong lah.....malu saya jadi orang Melayu Malaysia kat Indonesia ni.......orang kat sini tanye...
Pak Pak ...gimana Malaysia.....udah ngalahin sinetron ni?.......i just smile and shake my head....

Fifth Principle....Politeness and Integrity

How many of you put up your hand to call the waiter , especially at your average stalls.. five of them zipping around doing nothing all oblivious to you...or even go to a business entity owned by other races..that serves the masses such as workshop for example....and at the end of the "interaction" you feel somewhat cheated in a way..after another customer of the same race as the mechanic walks in and they speak in a language that you don't understand...with friendly facial expressions.........

How do you feel i ask you now?.......

Was it like this before? or was it "better" or somewhat tolerable.......

I think it is time to look at our Rukun Negara.....cause i dont think its working.......

Forget Constitution........those are for "institutions" which aims to govern our interaction...too many articles to remember and understand for a layman....

Imagine this the first target of any ruling party is to have the ability to amend it....that's all they wanted............to GOVERN us.....first thing out from the news...after the complete black out of information during the last GE......BN loses the "ability"........some people may disagree about constitutions being a control parameter for only institutions but the thing we are asked to do about it.... is actually to PROTECT the Supremacy of the Constitution....that's the do part....

Well lets look at the official translation since we are talking about it

Our Nation, Malaysia is dedicated to:

Achieving a greater unity for all her people;

Maintaining a democratic way of life;

Creating a just society in which the wealth of the nation shall be equitably distributed;

Ensuring a liberal approach to her rich and diverse cultural tradition,

Building a progressive society which shall be oriented to modern science and technology.

satD:How many did you score.....say a 5 out of 10 on the above.....i only managed to score a low 5 on the last one .....the science and technology part even that i think we could have done better .......................why didn't the Government have policies like qualification of MSC Buildings (Anywhere within 50KM of a reference point) if you are connected at a certain level on the Grid instead of focusing on real estate aspects........that's our Subprime Goverment Projects i think...got a few more i can name but go figure folks.....
We, the people of Malaysia, pledge our united efforts to attain these ends, guided by these principles:

Belief in God.

Loyalty to King and Country.

Supremacy of the Constitution.

The Rule of Law.

Mutual respect and good social behavior.

satD: I'm gonna skip item 2,3 and 4 as i find them hard to assign a numerical value

i'm gonna instead ask you on things that you do everyday.......Item 1 and 5....

How many of you actually practice religion? I mean you can be a Muslim but you drink, commit adultery, lie with malice and intent, tak mandi hadas n never sembayang......

When was the last time you were in church on Sunday? How many of you say your prayers before your meal? Or you just wallop the whole thing in without even thinking about GOD..

Do you say your prayers before you go to sleep......or do you offer anything at all to your GOD

and how many of you don't believe in anything

Count yourself....and your associations and compare that with the people around you say in your office, family etc etc.......whats the %?

Now on point 5....which is the key to our UNITY.....

Imagine if everyone now is more polite with one another....not fake polite.....but genuinely polite how would things be.......

I've been in Jakarta for a few years already........it's so nice.....people are so polite......you genuinely feel it......being called a Pak is actually quite nice.....and this is across all race...not just the pribumi....Ibu'k.........Mas.....Mbak......so so polite.....that helps......

It's different tho when people get into their cars.......no need for communication and our cars can get 100% tint........anyway whats the fuss about tinted cars.........it helps conserve energy you fool

Look at how we drive.....i don't need to come out with any analogy on this one...you know for yourself.................and we got no tint...i could actually see your face coming at me....

And to people as well as businesses what is your level of integrity in doing business? We've heard so many large scale corporate failures in recent years arising from complete failure in your principles of integrity......ever heard of terms like corporate governance and risk management..these are tools designed to control them.......the recent one freak me out..

Anyway folks....i got an online date with my wife....see ya...

PS:Do think about being more polite to one another and try defining what integrity actually means....ah before i forget... bring back cigarettes advertising.....ask them to spend on National Unity...Billboards, Sports, Messages on Cigarettes Boxes..with scary picture on the other side....ahhh one last one....sssh don't tell people ya...M***j***a  unite people of various culture n languages.....perhaps that can be a catalyst......you can start with medicinal use first......

"Tuan" Tanah.....ye ke?

Much ado on the Ketuanan Concept, many have theorize.... some relate it to the original ownership of Tanah Melayu , some focuses more on the so called "Supremacy/Dominance" aspect....some this.... some that......an evolving concept from the original speech of Dolah Kok Lanas

here's something to ponder upon........let us think from 1900's.....

1. We were colonized up till 1957........the Brits introduced the Torrent System in 1890's for land ownership and registration

2. State Own the Land and alienated them accordingly to specific races in Malaya and also to the Colonist Companies......

3. Complex process of transfers then happens either via direct acquisition by the Colonist Companies, or the land could have been charged to the Money lenders or "Banks".....some defaulted on their loans during the "depression" in the 30's and effectively lost their collateral...money lender/banks then sold to any willing buyer to recover the principal

4. Boom in Commodity prices especially rubber after man got off their horses to travel in automobiles...lead to an increased demand in plantation land....which then lead to greater transfer of land to the Colonist Companies........

5. World War II, domestic political instability and The Communist Insurgency made the Colonist companies "mengelabah" and began selling their land to those with money at that time..........and guess who had the money then???

6. Imbalances in land ownership begins in the early 60's whereby there is a net transfer of land titles to a particular race with economic dominance........

7. Corrective counter-measures thru NEP, creation of FELDA etc was introduced in the 70's to create a positive trend in land ownership to the Malays.......

8. Takeover of Plantation companies in the 80's by Government Linked entities helped create greater positive flow but these were companies assets....and not owned by Orang-Orang Melayu

For more details on these please read Evolution of Ethnic Patterns of Rural Land Ownership in Peninsula Malaysia by Ping-Keong Voon 1978 -
This analysis was done in Selangor and the author observe similar trends in other states......

By simple logic land need to be put into productive use by those who have capital and our race did not have much capital back then(and now perhaps), the state needed the income and the economic activity to propel growth..........even the Malay Reserve concept was introduced to correct the original imbalances (British Version of NEP).....

It is a public secret among the Government Officers that the majority of land ownership for economic use in Malaysia is NOT in the hands of the Malays...this "sensitive" data is in the hands of the Ruling Government.....care to publish Sir??

Tuan Tanah we are not? Economic Dominance a long shot? Political Dominance kelam kabut big time?

If you think that you want to lead the nation forward, get your act together folks, other races are looking at how fragmented our overall thinking especially of late? This situation is made worse by the level of quality of our Malay politicians.....only words like Bingai, Tamak, Unethical and Corrupt can best describe them......ade la a few good ones....but too little to make any difference...

Do look back folks but think forward please.....never EVER forget how we got here (especially those who have benefited from the NEP in the areas of their education...give back if you can in any way possible) and have a clear target of where we want to be next........

Tanah Melayu..the land of Homogenous Malay

Malaysia minus the 1,000,000 jus soli non malays citizens........ how would the evolution of the Malaysian Malay race be? .......would we be highly competitive with one another in every way possible....where only the best get what it deserves......how would our constitution be?....

Will we have a very complex social hierarchy similar to homogeneous nations such as the Koreans or the Japanese?

Will our bahasa melayu evolve in its depth similar to the Javanese with multi-layered version of ngoko, madya and krama...where one uses completely different vocabulary, grammatical rules and prosody in communication depending on to who you are speaking to and where you stand in the social hierarchy.....Will we have our own version of Kelate, Ganu, Negori, etc ..regional newspapers and TV channels in local dialects?

What would our politicians be fighting for?........What about our Sultans...will we be more loyal to our sultans than to the Federation....Would we be practising Islam with a single officially sanctioned mahzab?....What about other religions?

I guess through a detail process of negation of what is not........ then only what it is can emerge more clearly....our knowledge and understanding is a process of accumulation.......cultivated memories...can our thoughts be free of the pre-set tradition and the security of our knowledge to think about the issues affecting us holistically.....

....................ctrl alt delete...........

Blink..Blink......................

Hoi people.....ape nak jadi ni.....look at us now....the Bangsa Melayu ask yourself....are you happy with our progress? What is our great achievement after 51 years of Nationhood?....are you happy with "the First Malay this and the First Malay that"?

What is our current and future struggle?......what is it brader...? Coba cita sikit........

Things we are talking about passionately today like language and education are things that should have been sorted out years ago........remember MAGERAN after 13th May.....those jokers SHOULD have done the right thing then by implementing the RIGHT policy in having a Single National Education System..........if they had done so.......just imagine what a great nation we would be....they were not even answerable to any parliament nor politicians......it is Military backed anyway.......and our Agong the Defender of the constitution and would have approved it as that was the most critical step to National Unity.....Do you think the Dong Jiao Zong of the world dare to go out to the streets to face our Askar Melayu Di Raja? Is Terengganu leaving the Federation......

News flash.....bold emphasis added

Malaysian Insider

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 — History will be made soon when the Terengganu state government sets up its own RM10 billion sovereign wealth fund, the first state in Malaysia to do so and a move aimed at ensuring steady revenue after the oil and gas money dries up.The decision to set up the Terengganu Investment Authoritya body to be run solely by professionals — is also an indictment of the unsatisfactory manner royalty funds from oil and gas have been used by politicians for the last two decades. The Malaysian Insider has learnt that the proposal for a sovereign wealth fund was put forward by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, who is also the Ruler of the east coast state. The state exco endorsed the proposal at its weekly meeting yesterday. Political observers say that the decision to set up the authority is probably driven by the desire to ensure that royalty from oil and gas is spent wisely and in the long-term interest of the state, and not squandered on flashy projects. While the oil and gas resources in the state have not been tapped fully, concerns have been raised that insufficient emphasis has been placed on how to maximise the royalty payments.

Under the TIA, the Sultan of Terengganu will be the chairman of the Board of Advisors. The Menteri Besar of the state will also be represented on this board. But the Board of Directors will comprise only professional managers. The idea here is to ensure that investment decisions are made by professionals and without the interference of politicians. Sources in the state said that RM10 billion will be invested both within Terengganu and also the rest of Malaysia. But the TIA will also have a mandate to invest globally. The RM10 billion will be sourced from the local and foreign capital markets with a proposal for the Federal Government to provide a government guarantee of up to RM5 billion. As a measure of long-term sustainability, TIA will continue to reinvest its profits to generate higher growth. Dividends will be declared to the state of Terengganu and its partner investors.

The Edge

KUALA LUMPUR: Fed-up with years of abuse on the annual oil royalty it gets, the Terengganu state government is channelling its share of the oil money to a proposed RM10 billion fund that will invest in and outside the country. The fund, called the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA), is styled after the sovereign wealth funds in the Middle East. It will be managed and supervised by a team of professionals and the chairman will be the Sultan himself. Under the proposal, which was approved by the state exco two days ago and mooted by the Sultan who is also the King, the funds that are to be raised will be backed by cash flow from the oil royalty the state gets from Petronas annually. The amount of royalty that Terengganu gets from Petronas is not disclosed publicly. Based on reports, between March 2004 and 2007, the state government had supposedly received RM7.3 billion. However, it has been brought up in parliament that the amount received by the state is only RM5.2 billion.

Sources said that under the proposal, the fund will also get a RM5 billion guarantee from the federal government, which should further reduce the risk of the papers raised.“By virtue of the funds being raised are backed by cash flows from Petronas, the papers to be issued by TIA should get good ratings. The cost of raising the funds should be low despite the challenging environment,” says a source, adding that TIA would also be declared a tax-exempt company. Investors for the RM10 billion fund are expected to be drawn from local and foreign capital markets.

To ensure that the state’s development budget is not severely impacted by the channelling of the oil royalty to TIA, a portion of the dividends would go to the state. “Apart from investing locally and abroad, the fund will also be tasked with luring strategic international investment back to Terengganu,” said the source. It is learnt that TIA was mooted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin to ensure that the state channels sufficient funds to long-term ventures that would provide sustainable income to continue to drive economic growth, even when revenue from oil royalty drops.“The ruler wants the state’s wealth to be managed prudently and professionally so that the future prosperity of the state can be safeguarded,” said the source.

Holy Cow!!!!

Lets start with some basic facts first.

1. Terengganu is not Sovereign from a Credit Risk Perspective, try getting a rating and see if the state can get a AAA to start with......in the world of finance only the Federation of Malaysia holds the sovereign risk in the peninsula and a Sovereign Wealth Fund is a fund created typically when you have EXCESS funds that can be managed and you want to diversify from low risk assets into equities and other class of securities...... Conflicting Reports from the Malaysian Insider(Sovereign) Vs The Edge (“styled” as A Sovereign).....huh u either dont know what u talking about or you fail to listen properly to your source...main bantai aje....or your source is bingai...

2. You want to pinjam Petronas Risk via the Securitisation of your future revenue payments which is tied to a very volatile commodity and not only that you want to ask for a Government Guarantee of HALF the Fund size just in case you LOSE money is it?

3. And then you want to raise funds say via the bond market...lets assume you can do a 5 year paper....say if you are lucky to get a Quasy Government risk which should be trading around 3.5%(Khazanah) to 4.7%(Cagamas)........Armed with 10B your "proffesional" team (with what track record???) go around the world (including Terengganu) to invest...and find people to come back to Terengganu to invest. ..... at minimum you must get 5 % per annum to service the bond and pay for expenses....assuming no capital losses.....mmmm .......folks ever heard of ValueCap???? and the various state government mutual funds in the mid 90's.....on top of it you also want to invest in long-term ventures with long gestation period....phew.....lu biar serious beb

4. Why do you want to allow other investors into the Fund?....only rakyat should be allowed What is your investment/portfolio allocation strategy? How will the profit distribution rule be? Entry and Exit Clause to the Fund?...can you supplement our future income instead of us relying on govt-pension or EPF benefits?

Its an interesting idea no doubt but please do not provide any form of Guarantee...i’ve written about this before...its a ticking time bomb

This i think is a good initiative to spur up local state government bond market but may crowd out the local investment scene especially in the areas of private equity with 10Billion potential investable funds, tell you what why dont you do this instead.........

1. Federal Government begins a policy of financial decentralization whereby local governments are given more responsibility in economic management........state governments should no longer be put in an economic “hostage” situation......literally choked of their financing......no can do thats not right.....these are people ....your rakyat who needs them.......

2. State Government are allowed to invest in a number of instruments but must put a cap on Cash (operational cash requirements only) and they should never be allowed to buy Government Bonds as this would technically bring the money back to Federal goverment and it shows that they are not managing the cashflow properly as per their local domestic budgets proposed to the federal government...

3. The economic “freedom” of local governments will also reduce the potential amount of money politics, as people would really vote for the overall capacity of the potential candidates......... especially the economic management capacity which is a key criteria to have the ability to lead our country

4. People in general will then “connect” more with the candidates as his or her performance can be monitored much more closely in the well functioning of a smaller “system”...the good ones among them should then compete at the National Level of Politics.....the best of them should lead the country

5. Start investing in National Unity Programs executed through our “Micro” Society Based Institutions..who knows you and your family and potentially your mother as well...something like a Mosque, Church, Temples....and other apolitical community based organisation......we need to seriously think about finding a solution to the level of polarisation in our society..blogger de minimis mentions of reigniting the rukun tetangga to help solve the escalating crime rate

6. If Terengganu really wants to invest .......start small..just use what you have..do not borrow to invest....let the managers prove to you that they are capable.....or best part do not start your own.....farm out or outsource the money to the BEST MANAGERS IN THE WORLD.....you then evaluate them annually in their portfolio allocation strategies, investment returns and risk profiles.....measure their performance against the original mandate of the Fund.....you only need the Sultan and The State Government to decide on this.....plus you can save some money on hiring “proffesional” managers........invest the local domestic capacity....of if your are really serious find a couple of capable Anak Terengganu to be trained in London or New York with the funds.....sorry this one i cannot apply.......ambo ora kelate.......
